ART; THE FUTURE OF JOBS.

There are jobs that can be taken over by droids like the ones in transportation, customer care, and manufacturing.

But, surprisingly, art is on the list of top jobs machines cannot dominate or push out of existence in the future. Why? 

Natural; 

Art is to a very great extent a natural skill. That is, it is a skill that cannot be made or given by mankind. Although it can be taught, but it is a skill that you first have to know how to do before being taught or learning it. 

Art is a skill that is spontaneous; it is not premeditated or a prompted skill. This explains why no matter the groundbreaking discoveries and achievements in AI or machine learning it will not be easy for the robot to make art because art occurs in an open, natural, and uninhibited manner. 

Creativity: 

It has been said that machines with all their enhancements, cannot be absolutely original as human beings. Robots do not have the ability to think independently either even when they are made to look like they do. Researchers have agreed that creative jobs can not be taken over by robots.

Critical thinking;  

Also, it has been established that jobs that allow humans to think critically will not be taken over by machines. Critical thinking not only involves problem-solving or strategizing for an activity, but it also allows thinking intellectually, creatively, and ethically. All of which are combined into the production of a unique, and long-lasting art piece. 

Art is not predictive or repetitive; 

Particular jobs like being a secretary or a courier are the kinds of repetitive or predictive jobs that robots will take over. It is very difficult to forecast what you will produce in the studio as an artist even when you have the idea of imagination in your head; art is not predictive. Furthermore, an artist does not duplicate what they have previously produced; art is not repetitive. 

Although people can learn how to become an artist. Still, to an extent, art is a natural skill. It is to an extent innate and not a skill that can be programmed into anyone not to mention a machine by fellow humans. Artificial Intelligence can never replace natural intelligence; which explains why it can not take over the job of artists. It will take a lot of efforts and investments to program robots in creating art like humans.

Creating art involves a high level of social, or emotional intelligence: 

The reason robots are going to replace the telemarketers’ jobs is that telemarketing does not require a high level of social and emotional intelligence. These reasons are also linked to the advantages of art.

For all the artists worried about not having a real job, I believe the knowledge of the fact that robots cannot absolutely take your jobs should make you better appreciate your responsibilities. I hope this will also increase your level of confidence as an artist. 

Overall, what other areas would you prefer your kids to build a career in than in the art industry where even the robots are not enough threat to drive artists out of relevance in the future.
